Paris Fashion Week Today: BW and MMM

My two favourite designers showed in Paris on the same day. Again, both had a stunning catwalk.

I’m such a fan of Jutta Kraus now. She is mostly responsible for the Bernhard Willhelm Women’s collection. And of course, Maison Martin Margiela brought the shoulders. And clouds.

Proddy’s ABC of Online Shopping

As you may or may not know, living in Canada sometimes feels a little bit like living in a fashion desert. After 3 years in Toronto, I have turned it into a virtue. After hours, days, months on the interwebz, I have found my favourite online stores. Of course, I had to select the shops based on their Bernhard Willhelm and Martin Margiela availability.

The list below will give you an unparalleled view on the websites I spend most of my time at. Click. Click. Click. Shopping Cart. Cart. Cart. Buy. Bought. Bought.
And when you find yourself buying from the stores, just think of it as your own personal economy stimulus plan.
Pump the money back into the financial system!

Proddy: Buy. Bought. Bought.

# B Store
Mary introduced me to b-store. We met up in London and paid the b a visit. It was such a pleasurable experience, because the Bernhard truck had just unloaded a couple of Muumuus (pictured above & below). After leaving London, I called Kirk & Matthew a week later and ordered another BW fix. Brilliant service & always some hot shit to look at.

# Corner, The
A sister site to yoox.com, The Corner sells the most recent menswear collections. I’m still not sure why they don’t ship to Canada (yoox.com does). I sent them an email once a month asking about shipment to Toronto but to no avail. I hate them a little bit. What I usually do is get my order shipped to Germany and a friend has to FedEx it to my place.
Another weird thing is that some of the labels are available in European countries but not in the US, for instance Bernhard. So make sure you select different countries to get the whole experience. Make it work.
It looks like they will be getting Walter van Beirendonck for summer. Bernhard, Margiela, Raf Simons, Viktor & Rolf are already there.

# Doshaburi
One of my favourites. Doshaburi is from Japan and they have a shop in Barcelona, where they ship from. When I went to the store last summer, there was always a very friendly Japanese woman working there, helping me with my hysterical questions. One of the best Bernhard Willhelm (men’s only) sites, they carry so many more exciting designers, it would take me months to list them all. Last time I ordered, I got a Bernhard poster / look book thing with my sweater. Amazing. Buy something now!

# Far Fetched
One stop for 20 shops in old Europe. Haven’t gotten anything fetched yet. Can’t be long. B Store is part of Far Fetch, too, so you can actually shop with them twice. Neat.

# Fatal
I love Fatal, based in Minneapolis of all places, but have to say their sale is not the best. Most of the clothing gets reduced by 30% only. But who cares? I got my beautiful & humongous Bernhard pot scarf (picture above & below), that I wore as a dress from them.

# Good Hood
I haven’t personally ordered anything from Good Hood, but I like their site and selections. That’s easy, because there are a couple of Bernhard women’s dresses that I would like to get my mittens on.

# Kron Kron
From Reykjavik. In the summer, they had wonderful dip dye Bernhard dresses. They are sold out now & I can’t wait for the new deliveries. Click them daily.

# Oki Ni
They have some Margiela, Raf Simons etc. The current specialty is the Opening Ceremony Collection by Wong Kar Wai. Get yourself some film shirts.

# Reborn
Based in the old town of Montreal, this is the only Canadian store on the list. Birgit and myself stopped by the lovely store last year & threw some serious dough at the welcoming sales people. My favourites lines here are Bless & Zibskov. Mary loves herself some Complex Geometries. Reborn also has the Six Scents perfume collection; therefore they are the only place in Canada where you can get Wicken 3000.

# Seven
The Bernhard usually sells out pretty quick at this New York store. If you want a specific piece, you need to call them around the time when the new collections arrive and get pictures sent BEFORE they post them to the website. Otherwise, the best stuff is already gone. You snooze, you loose.

# 10 Corso Como
I can’t wait from 10 Corso Como to open their online boutique. Comme des Garcons galore. Went to their shop a couple of years ago, when I was in Tokyo. I want to go again, right NOW.

Proddy: Buy. Kaufen. Acheter.

I haven’t included eluxury.com in the list above as they only ship within the US and you have to use an US credit card. Thank you very much. However, I have to admit, that I ordered a MMM necklace from them last year, and had to use a service company from Florida that bought it on my behalf and forwarded the precious metal to me. There is always a way to get the item you need!

Apart from all the online stores, I can recommend randomly calling Margiela boutiques around the world to ask about products you really need. For instance, my dear friend Mary Messhausen loves the diamond necklace, bracelet and ring (pictured below)! Call them NOW.
I personally like to chat with Colin from the NYC Margiela boutique. He is very friendly and last time I was at the store, his arm was broken, which added some extra cute clumsiness.

Back when I lived in Germany, I only shopped at Heimat. If you’re ever in Cologne, you have to pay them a visit. Andy and Andreas are in charge of my favourite store in Germany & they publish the amazing Mode Depesche, for whom I did an interview with Jean-Paul Lespagnard and other articles.

MMM Diamonds

So now, keep the economy going and buy. bought. bought.

BW in Berlin

Earlier this evening, Bernhard Willhelm showed his autumn/winter 2009/10 men”™s collection at Postbahnhof in Berlin. Inspired by the 1976 winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, the models were put on skiers, horses and other carriage. Some of them looked like they were cast at Ficken 3000 (I’m not judging, just observing).

OK, let’s go skiing. More pics after the jump.

Just Another Dream (Don’t Judge)

Someone tells me that Martin Margiela himself can be seen in the video to his spring/summer 2009 collection. I download the clip from some weird website.
In the show the models look like Margiela models but they all wear Bernhard Willhelm. At the end of the show one model walks into the woods carrying a huge blanket.
In the woods, the model unfolds and shakes the blanket when it suddenly becomes a boxing ring. All ropes are made out of compressed Bernhard garments, looking a bit like Weiche Zäune.
The mood in the woods changes to Lost. The background music suggest something mysterious or dangerous. Sudden light flashes. On a small path between the trees, every time the light flashes, I can see a person who looks like it may or may not be Martin Margiela.
I woke up.

Bernhard Willhelm: Wicken 3000

“A light, fresh, clean scent that embodies a fusion of the elements. The idea was to create a perfume close to the elements of water and air, but with a futuristic approach. Express “the Back to nature” side of Bernhard with a pure & essential fragrance.”
– Lucas Sieuzac, Perfumer

Available as #2 in the collection of Six Scents: Series One
Each fragrance is limited to 2000 bottles & raises money for Designers Against Aids

don’t get me started on the typography for the Bernhard scent

Sausage Necklaces

Here is my to-be-expected Bernhard Willhelm fashion show post. When I saw the first pictures, I liked the collection, thinking it was very modern with a mix of Bernhard styles. Some of which were shown in previous catwalks, but now with updated patterns and cuts.

Then I saw the close ups below. Sausage necklaces.
I’m tempted to call the buyers of the boutiques to make sure they have ordered those.

The whole collection seems very wearable to me. ‘Wearable’ sounds like something horrible to write about a collection. Anyway, it’s amaaaaaazzzzzing (pronounced in a very gay way).

Can’t Believe I Did It: Dip & Dye

Had gay brunch yesterday and all of us went on a crafts project after. I choose dip dyeing. The fashion bloggers Style Bubble and Flying Saucer showed me how to do your own Lacroix.

A lot of times when going out in Toronto, especially when wearing Bernhard Willhelm or Comme des Garçons, I get the insulting question: “Did you make that yourself?”
Guess I have to face the demons now.

Eye Candy

I have already booked my tickets for my summer adventures in old Europe (mid June to beginning of August). The only thing I’m missing is sunglasses. Now here comes the predicament. Of course, I’ll be getting some Bernhard Willhelm glasses, his collaboration with Linda Farrow Vintage (he also did a collabo with Topshop). But what color should I snatch? Hot animal print or hot pink?

The picture of the pink glasses is a bit misleading as the gradient is from pink to clear plastic (and not white). Please, help me out dear readers. What color should I pick up? And please don’t give me that “buy them both”, I need to focus on one pair.

Pepsi Deluxe Snow Day

It’s been awhile since a soft drink company contacted me to do an ad campaign (as the Pepsi Jazz and Coca Cola Blāk jingles were such a success). So I was very happy when Mary Messhausen came back from the motherland with the new south east Asian pop sensation, Pepsi Deluxe.

Today, heaven pumped out another load of the white stuff. To take advantage of the virgin snow, we took our Pepsi Deluxe juices to the toboggan run. When Mary and me got to the top of the hill, we saw little Ella frolicking in the white desert. To gain her trust, we pulled her around the slopes for one hour before running off with her toboggan.

And so, the photo shoot began.
Watch us go down and bump the wood.

Wake Me Up In February

Basically, I have to go to sleep for two months. Everything I want is available in spring, mostly February only:

  • The new Mariah album (as yet untitled)
  • The new Bernhard Willhelm women’s 2008 summer collection
  • The new Comme des Garcons fragrance 8 88 (smells like gold)
  • The new The Golden Compass 8 DVD Collectors Box Set incl. 1 animal spirit
Visit the homepage of my cute daemon, Callum. Please.
  • The new Hot Chip album

Meet Callum, omg, how cute!

Going Shopping

Mary and I are at a department store, just strolling around. Looking at a few tops I suddenly discover a Bernhard Willhelm label on one of the sweaters. Mary and I get super excited, why do they sell Bernhard here? The sweater is really beautiful, lots of patterns and nice colours. It looks like it would fit me. I discover the price tag on the lower back: $695. That seems to be OK.
Out of curiosity, I turn the sweater inside out. By doing so it becomes obvious that the sweater is made out of two towels, just sown together at the top and the sides. Some tailoring on the sides provides fitting. Mary and I are exited by the simplicity. I try to put the sweater on, but I can’t get in. It’s too small. Someone in the back of the store yells at us: “This sweater is overpriced and ugly”. (woke up)

Four

new bernhard pants

produzentin.com turned 4 last week. I want to say thank you to all you wonderful readers out there by giving you a little present which involves the pants I’m wearing above.

The pants are from the latest Bernhard Willhelm collection. I was at the fashion show in Paris in January. They’re in the 5th picture from the top, the model in the coat watering the bucket is wearing them.

Get your own Bernhard after the jump.

A Shaded View on Fashion has first pictures of the Bernhard Willhelm mens collection for spring / summer 2008 featuring French porn actor, Francois Sagat.
Achtung Auspuffaction.

Socks collection

I’m not sure if I’m ready for wearing a mattress around town, maybe tomorrow, when I have talked myself into it. Anyway, I’m looking forward to Bernhard’s women collection for this winter: It’s all about pot. Love #6.

In more BW news, the ModeMuseum in Antwerp has an exhibition on his works starting July 13, called Het Totaal Rappel.

New Rave / New Sofa

I’m really sorry for the lack of updates this past week but I had to get settled at the new place and cram all my clothes into the tiny little closet. Anyhow, the boxes are unpacked, the new sofa was delivered.

To celebrate the UFOs landing, Mary Messhausen came over in the afternoon and we drowned a bottle of fruity red wine. Accccccciiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeed!

Get Your Own Volta

Download and print your own giant poster of Björk’s Volta album cover at showstudio.com. It is composed of 48 pieces, 34 of which have image content and 14 left blank. Day by day you’re able to download one piece. Then puzzle the giant 1.1m x 1.9m Nick Knight/Björk/Bernhard Willhelm collaboration together and let the Earth Intruders be with you.

The Guardian asks: “Is it an advert for tomato ketchup? Is it the latest Disney monster? Is it a nu-rave cartoon? No, it’s just Björk’s new look.”

Maria’s Kitchen

After a long day of shopping on Saturday, including three hours at b store, we went back to the abandoned apartment and took a disco nap. Later, we got up and headed over to a club where they were playing dub- and grimestep. Mary, Maria and I tried to dance to this silly music but that joint was overrun with toddlers.

With no luck on the dance floor we moved on over to a pub, The Joiner’s Arms. Mary and I heard a rumor that there may or may not be rent boys near the washrooms. So we had a little treasure hunt, when suddenly, Mary’s hand bag went missing. We were all Messhausen from that point on.
Totally bummed out, we headed back to the apartment to sober up.

Sunday morning, to lift our spirits, we had an impromptu photo shoot with all the Bernhard Willhelm stuff that we got our mitts on.

Sunday afternoon, we received a phone call from a very friendly couple. They told us that they had found the bag and all that was in it, cluttered at a back alley just around the corner from the pub. We picked it up a few hours later. Only a cat had pissed on Mary’s shawl.

Sleepy Eyes

When it became obvious that I had to spend a couple of more weeks in Frankfurt before heading back to Toronto, Mary called me and said: I’m going to be in London on a business trip, girl, you better come over and visit ME.

So, I did. You better not mess with Mary Messhausen.

I arrived in London and Mary was supposed to be staying with a friend of hers but when I got to the address it was an abandoned apartment. After a hard night of drinking and kebabs we pushed through the garbage and went to bed.

Bernhard Willhelm Men’s Collection Winter 2007/08

I’m writing from my tiny hotel room in Paris, but I won’t complain, they provide wireless internet access. What more do I need?

I just came back from an amazing Bernhard Willhelm Men’s Collection Show for Autumn/Winter 2007/2008. I’m going to write a full article for Mode Depesche. For now, I would like to share a few pictures. There were even more gorgeous outfits. Full coverage should be up soon at totemfashion.

Additionally, I was able to record a video of the first minute of the show to give you a better impression. Don’t you love the chanting / yodeling?

Enjoy.
Thanks to Andreas and Andy for getting me in there.

Bernhard Willhelm Men Spring/Summer 2006

So Spring 2007

I am back in Toronto for today. Later tonight, friends will take us to a cottage north of Toronto. There will be a beautiful lake (which I don’t know the name of) and lots of bbq and sausage fun.

Below are the pictures I will think about all weekend.

I love the Bernhard Willhelm mens collection for Spring/Summer 2007. These are just two of my favourite outfits. And I need the polka dot shawl with knickerbockers. NOW! (more pictures, registration req. for full quality)

And then there is the painted by Mariah butterfly dog for the charity auction of the Aspen Filmfest (via). Very fetch!
