So, I spent the last weeks at a cottage north of Toronto. I thought I had to get out of the city for some time. And can you imagine, I did not even have access to the interwebz?! Honestly, I do not know how the peoples survive up there.

After awhile, I got into the cottage life style: Get up. Have some bubbly. Swim away your hangover. More bubbly. Visit your friends by boat. Have a morsel to eat for din din. Have a drink. Socialize. Have more drinks. Pass out on the patio of your newly found friends. Wake up in the morning with no recollection on how you got home.

It was one of those days when I set out for a special cruise.
Be sure to check out the short clip at the end of the post.

Dress by the one and only Prancey Girl.

So I was very happy when Mary Messhausen came back from the motherland with the new south east Asian pop sensation, Pepsi Deluxe.

Today, heaven pumped out another load of the white stuff. To take advantage of the virgin snow, we took our Pepsi Deluxe juices to the toboggan run. When Mary and me got to the top of the hill, we saw little Ella frolicking in the white desert. To gain her trust, we pulled her around the slopes for one hour before running off with her toboggan.

And so, the photo shoot began.
Watch us go down and bump the wood.

Mary Messhausen and I needed some time off. So when our gingerheaded photographer friend Kyle offered to take us to his cottage right by the water, it sounded like the perfect opportunity to leave the busy city behind.

When we arrived at the cabin we found that run-down raft laying by the lakeside. In a heartbeat we hopped on the makeshift vessel. After the first excitement wound down and the fishing was done, we totally chilled out on the raft. So chilled out that we fell asleep.

After what must have been at least an hour we woke up and could barely see the coast. We felt like the biggest gaytards ever.

Watch the desperation unfold after the jump.

On my trip to Dildo I saw this turbo cute pony eating away its lunch on a front yard. I wanted to get my picture with the little bugger immediately. My stylists rang the doorbell of the owners. Sure enough they happily agreed to the quick photo shoot.

Now, back in Toronto, I’m a bit sad because I forgot the name of my tiny friend.

Friendly. Always eating. Just like me.

Surprised. The pony wanted to bite my hand.
It made very sudden head movements. I had to be extremely careful.

Happy. Hugging the pony. What a catch.

Angry. I had to wash my shoes off of the pony excrements.

Our tour of Newfoundland continued with a visit of the lovely town Dildo. This is a beautiful little community on Trinity Bay, right at the Atlantic.

When we drove into Dildo I hoped for crazy Dildo merchandise and all. Soon we got the feeling, that the Dildonians want to downplay the name of their town. I still don’t now why, I think they should totally work it: Dildo cutlery, Dildo cocktails, Dildo shoes, Dildo hats. So many possibilties!

However, here is the Dildonian explanation of how Dildo got its name:

“D’Isle Duo” can be translated into Spanish, Portuguese and French, all roughly meaning ‘two islands’. With respect to our community, we believe these two islands to be Spread Eagle and Dildo Island, both visible from our community. Over time, with the dialects of the settlers, the flow has been lost and it evolved into Dildo.

Me loves them islands names, bys.

Up next: My visit to the Dildo Interpretation Centre.

We just had the most wonderful day. Driving around Trinity Bay made my heart jump for joy. And kept our imagination going. The road to Heart’s Desire leads through Heart’s Delight and most importantly, the town named Dildo.

I will tell you more about the trip and Dildo in the next couple of days, once I’m back in Toronto.

My eyes glittered with desire. This is where I want to be.

Moraine Lake is set in the Valley of Ten Peaks and for me, it is the jewel of the Rockies. I even sipped the ice cold water, it felt like drinking from a fountain of youth.

This weekend I traveled with friends to a farm 4 hours north of Toronto. My cell phone did not work, no internet. It was so much nature, I had my concerns.

Fortunally, the maple syrup harvest was in full effect. From the farm it was a short walk to the sugar shack. And I was wondering: why do they call this small hut sugar shack. However, it seems to be a common name for a place where the maple sap is boiled down to syrup. It has to boil hard, I can tell you. For around 12 hours. We got to the shack at 7 in the morning.

Wandering through the wood and checking the maple sap buckets.
The sound of the dripping sap was mesmerizing.

The sap boiled in this huge tub. I am sifting the foam off the sap.
I had to do this every half hour or so. It was very exhausting but as everyone was in such good spirits, I kept going and going.

Keeping the fire alive with Dave.

Tasting some sap. We drank it with coffee which was very delicious.
We boiled the liquid tree gold for another 5 hours.

Happy – after a full day of work with Denny and Dave.
Dave lives in a small cabin in the woods nearby. He invited me to his place.
Maybe I will stay with him the next time I’m up there.

I had such a wonderful time. Now I feel like a truly canadian girl.
The maple syrup I took home will keep my memories alive. And the juices flowing.

Big kisses to my friend Job who took the pictures.
