BW in Berlin

Earlier this evening, Bernhard Willhelm showed his autumn/winter 2009/10 men”™s collection at Postbahnhof in Berlin. Inspired by the 1976 winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, the models were put on skiers, horses and other carriage. Some of them looked like they were cast at Ficken 3000 (I’m not judging, just observing).

OK, let’s go skiing. More pics after the jump.
All photos by my (now) bff Sascha Fierce (yes, HE lives in Berlin).

Glowns

The colourful picture of Kanye and his entourage at Paris fashion week was shot by Torontonian Tommy Ton.

Now Kanye’s hairdresser has blogged about their trip to Paris, complaining about people calling them gay & clowns. In the first paragraph, he has to make sure that no one is gay or a clown. Really?

I don’t get it. Who doesn’t want to be a hot glown?
Nothing better than that.

Bulletinboard Blvd.

Lucie and Will have an opening at their gallery Pro Choice in Vienna tonight. And 5 million people are involved. Every one sent a poster which is going to be put up by Tom Humphreys.

The list of all people is below, but I really wanted to show you what my poster looks like. There is a some Chicago in there and no Bernhard Willhelm. I know, shocking.

Hotnuts Trompe-l’œil

We got some Trompe-l’œil action last night. The lady strippers got the audience all heated up & provided some lezzie action for birthday girl Andrea. Then Mikiki took the stage with a self piercing performance number. I think she’s a vampire, she did not bleed a single drop.

p.s. Mary might be preggers, we’re waiting for the test results.

All pictures are on flickr in full size.

Just Another Dream (Don’t Judge)

Someone tells me that Martin Margiela himself can be seen in the video to his spring/summer 2009 collection. I download the clip from some weird website.
In the show the models look like Margiela models but they all wear Bernhard Willhelm. At the end of the show one model walks into the woods carrying a huge blanket.
In the woods, the model unfolds and shakes the blanket when it suddenly becomes a boxing ring. All ropes are made out of compressed Bernhard garments, looking a bit like Weiche Zäune.
The mood in the woods changes to Lost. The background music suggest something mysterious or dangerous. Sudden light flashes. On a small path between the trees, every time the light flashes, I can see a person who looks like it may or may not be Martin Margiela.
I woke up.

Never The Bride

I wanted to blog about Courtney Love’s Elle UK cover story earlier but somehow got sidetracked. Then, I thought let’s wait until January 1st and see if her new album gets released as promised by Courtney’s scribbles across the Elle pictures. But no, the album isn’t out yet. However, this weekend I got a copy of the magazine and read the brilliant interview. Below are excerpts.

Never The Bride
“Silk and crystal top by Givenchy
Sequined silk shorts and lace gloves, both by Chanel
Ribbon and crystal necklace by Lanvin
Tights, customized by Courtney, by Falke
Suede and patent-leather boots by Alexander McQueen
Writing by Courtney”

Are you happier now?
“I’m off antidepressants for the moment because my album producer wants me to feel the rage, wants me to be really angry, wants me to face the demons. And I am so f***ing angry! I’m getting back on them as soon as recording the album is finished. I’m not going to punch anybody, but I have to do two hours of exercise and chanting a day to feel good.”

At what point did you think you needed to change your body?
“Sweetheart, I was 192 pounds and doing Italian Vogue! The trouble is that I always think I look hot, no matter how heavy I am. But this was a punch in the face. They had an amazing Chanel couture dress and the only way it would work was for the stylist to cut out the entire back so it just covered the front of my thighs. That was it for me. The unretouched pictures from that shoot are still on my fridge.”

How did you get to that size?
“I got to that weight through macrobiotic food. Who knew you could get fat being healthy? It was yummy and I ate way too much. Trudie Styler and Sting eat that shit, but they work out for like three hours a day.”

Who are your favourite designers?
“Rick Owens, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, Lanvin, Todd Lynn, Christopher Bailey for Burberry. I love Vivienne Westwood. She’s mad ““ but I’m madder. I was introduced to her at a V&A gala and said, “It’s such a pleasure to finally meet you.” She said, “What do you mean? We’ve had lunch! You talked at me for three hours!””

A Highly Advanced 3D Text Message of My Future Self

Finally, last night I saw some Ryan Trecartin. His 100 minute video I-Be Area kept me on my toes. So much fun to watch, too many lines to remember. I wish my reality was more like that. Identity switching, walking through walls, baby stealing(?), blotchy make-up, sped up voices, repeated dialogue. What’s there not to like?
Ryan Trecartin plays a lot of the characters himself, over the top gay pronunciations or a Southern accent included.

Pasta (played by Trecartin) and Wendy M-PEGgy

In this clip, I-Be2 (played by Trecartin) appears at around 3:15, becomes Oliver and changes his name to Amerisha

All of Ryan Trecartin’s videos are on his youtube page.

MMM does Carlu’s Apartment

OK, I want to hire the Maison Martin Margiela interior design team or move to Paris or paint everything white & use white covers and stuff, you get the picture. Und ich will auch nur noch schwarz-weiß trompe l’oeil ÜBERALL. I need a MMM intervention!!! Please read…

The Cite de l’architecture & du patrimoine (museum inside Palais de Chaillot) and the magazine Elle Décoration have asked Maison Martin Margiela to revive the former apartment of Jacques Carlu, the architect of the Palais de Chaillot in the 1930’s.

Check out Elle Décoration for two videos. (this is the one link in this post you need to click!) Make sure to watch the MMM tour guide video with no faces allowed.

Before?

“ELLE have given carte blanche to Maison Martin Margiela for the interior work on this exceptional 220qm apartment located opposite the Eiffel tower that overlooks all of Paris from its terrace.
The intervention of Maison Martin Margiela in the suite goes beyond simple decoration, it seeks to revive the place, in space and time. Time that stops after a party and leaves only disorder. (…)
Here the codes, themes and universe of the Maison mix (whites, silver, trompe l’oeil, cotton covers, the traces of time). Its values are also apparent (irony, shifted use, deconstruction), values which the Maison never ceases to interpret in its creative expression, through clothing or the universes it develops.” (source)

Or after?
Pictures by Diane, A Shaded View on Fashion

The ELLE Décoration Suite (don’t you love the name?) by Maison Martin Margiela is open to the public until October 1st, 2009. Visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm.

And when you Torontonian’s thought “Carlu” sounds familiar, you’re right: Jacques Carlu is also the architect of a Toronto landmark, you guessed it, The Carlu, an Art Moderne masterpiece, as wiki says.

In other Margiela news, it seems that Kanye is totally addicted to MMM (welcome to the club). This week alone, he has blogged about MMM products 4 times: braclet, gay bags, shop in London & gay sneakers. Just wait for my favourite MMM summer products to pop up right HER.
Can’t wait to meet ‘Ye at a MMM store.

Dame Edna: What I See in the Mirror

My second Dame Edna post in a week, who knew?

DE
From The Guardian (via Lady Bunny)

“I have had a little cosmetic surgery. I had some crow’s feet added to my eyes because people said that I looked too young.”

“Does the ageing process worry me? Yes, it will do, when I start to age. Meanwhile, it worries me in other people because I have to keep repeating myself, talk louder and help them out of their chairs. And in my mother’s case purée her meals.

I invented diets and my most successful one is my famous “All Cake Diet”, exclusively of yummy cakes finally inducing nausea and projectile vomiting which is nature’s most effective weight-loss programme.”

London Interviews

# Interview recorded with Viktor & Rolf during the final week of their exhibition at London’s Barbican Gallery: Inside the House of Viktor & Rolf

# Interviews with Head of Press and In-house Architect of Maison Martin Margiela at the opening of the new London boutique. There was a strict “no face photography” policy at the event.
