30 March 2008 | Women in Love

Dear readers, when Mary and I went to Chinatown last weekend to cop the Bernhard Willhelm knock off sunglasses, we were so happy when we found them in yellow and white. And they matched our outfits.

Anyhow, last night Bubby Frieda took the stage and gave us two songs about self pity. The audience ate it up and screamed for more. As her encore Bubby sang “Woman in Love” by Barbara Streisand and everyone joined in on the chorus.

Thanks you all for making Hotnuts such fun.

My dress by Vanessa. Thank you so much, darling.

25 March 2008 | John

John Waters by Nan Goldin
John Waters by Nan Goldin
From a New York feature & interview
(The letters are a gift from Paul Reubens aka Pee-wee Herman)

At present he is juggling work on an upcoming art show for his dealer, Marianne Boesky, with getting financing for Fruitcake and writing a book. “It’s called Role Models, and it’s a self-portrait where I write profiles of other people and how much I love them and how much they changed my life and influenced me—famous people, criminals, people you’ve never heard of.”

25 March 2008 | Art and Soul

I loves me some Art and Soul.

24 March 2008 | Lies

My favourite Theo Parrish Ugly Edit: GQ - Lies.
Feeling the album cover, too.
Make sure to check the Beat Electric often. Always hot.

21 March 2008 | Eye Candy

I have already booked my tickets for my summer adventures in old Europe (mid June to beginning of August). The only thing I’m missing is sunglasses. Now here comes the predicament. Of course, I’ll be getting some Bernhard Willhelm glasses, his collaboration with Linda Farrow Vintage (he also did a collabo with Topshop). But what color should I snatch? Hot animal print or hot pink?

The picture of the pink glasses is a bit misleading as the gradient is from pink to clear plastic (and not white). Please, help me out dear readers. What color should I pick up? And please don’t give me that “buy them both”, I need to focus on one pair.

Animal Pink
pro pink: It’s the classic proddy color
pro animal: It’s classic fierceness

18 March 2008 | Side Effects

I’m coming home after a day about town. It’s a wonderful sunny day. The first smell of spring is in the air. I apply a hint of M by Mariah to heighten my spirits even more and take a seat on my new chair. Browsing the interwebs for a minute. I’m searching for a leak of Mariah’s new album, E=MC².

Boom. There it is. I don’t know what to do with myself. My pulse must be 160. Clicking the buttons. Staring at the download bar in disbelief. It’s almost here. Unzip. Done. Now. Full volume.
My favourite songs are: Migrate, Side Effects, I’m That Chick, O.O.C. and I’ll Be Lovin’ You Long Time. I put them on repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

We just love flashforwards on produzentin.com

14 March 2008 | Feel Free - Give Some Ac ck - Problem - You Got My

Let me start the seasonal chart blog with a list of second-hand vinyl I bought recently, 90ties house at its best:
D-Influence - No Illusions (MK’s Dumb Dub) - EastWest Records
Janet Jackson - Go Deep (Masters At Work Vocal Deep Disco Dub) - Virgin
Jeanne Harris - Just Another Man (Squeeze & Tease Me Mix) - Studio Records
Ceybil - Love So Special (Extended Original Underground Mix) - Atlantic

I had never heard the Mark Kinchen remix of No Illusions. I immediately fell in love with the vocals, the beats, shouts & groans. And so can you.

Cop the song: No Illusions (MK’s Dumb Dub).

  1. K. Hand - Feel Free - Acacia
Kelli Hand released 5 Cd’s of her remixes, often based on short vocal samples of deep house classics. Hysterical. Feel Free is my favourite track. I Can’t Take You Leaving Me, Reaction, I’ll Never Let You Down and Just Want You Back are also great. And many more. Viola introduced me to Kelli a while back: Do You Love Me starts with a fairground announcer shouting: “Jetzt bring’ ma wieder Schwung in die Kiste. Hey, ab geht die Post. Let’s Go. Let’s Fetz. Volle Pulle. Volle Power. Super.”
  2. Flora Cruz - Overcome EP - Mixtape Sessions Music
  3. Terence Parker - I’m Happy (Ron Carroll’s BMC Get Down Vocal Mix) feat. Bishop Edmound Griffin Sr - Superb
    First burner from Superb.
  4. The Anointed Pace Sisters - High Praise (Spen & Thommy Davis Dub Mix) - Superb
Up. Lift Him up. Up. Up. I could live without the “hands together” chants but anyway. Lift Him up.
  5. Mary J. Blige - Just Fine (Jovonn Remix) - Promo
Heard it first on Aaron-Carl’s weekly radio show. So Hot.
  6. Chaz Jankel - Get Myself Together (Hercules & Love Affair House Mix) - Tirk
  7. Roisin Murphy - You Know Me Better (Nightmoves Remix) - EMI
Listen to the soon to be released mix on Roisin’s remix myspace.
  8. Chic - I Want Your Love (Todd Terje Edit)
  9. Hercules & Love Affair - Blind (Hercules Club Mix & Frankie Knuckles Remix) - DFA
I’m ready for the next single already, which hopefully has a Marc Kinchen mix.
  10. Kalup Linzy - Asshole (Dance Remix)
  11. Colette - About Us (Derrick Carter’s B.H.Q. Vocal) - Om
    Has a touch of Kylie.
  12. Guy Robin Feat. Anthony Moriah - Bless You Brother (Underground Mix) - Hustle Music
  13. Mark Grant - Guessing Again (Yass Remix) feat. Russoul - Suburban
  14. Inner City - Pennies From Heaven (Slow To Speak Mix) - Virgin
This is basically an edit of two previously available mixes: Deep Reese Mix & Kevin’s Tunnel Mix.
  15. Jesus Jackson - Damn (Jacob London Remix) - Physical Graffiti
Funky Prince sounds on the Strictly Rhythm spin-off.

11 March 2008 | So Many Roisins

08 March 2008 | Pepsi Deluxe Snow Day

It’s been awhile since a soft drink company contacted me to do an ad campaign (as the Pepsi Jazz and Coca Cola Blāk jingles were such a success). So I was very happy when Mary Messhausen came back from the motherland with the new south east Asian pop sensation, Pepsi Deluxe.

Today, heaven pumped out another load of the white stuff. To take advantage of the virgin snow, we took our Pepsi Deluxe juices to the toboggan run. When Mary and me got to the top of the hill, we saw little Ella frolicking in the white desert. To gain her trust, we pulled her around the slopes for one hour before running off with her toboggan.

And so, the photo shoot began.
Watch us go down and bump the wood.

Lovin' those Pepsi Deluxe juices

On a slide

Huuiiiiiiihhhhh, Mary's still smiling

Total disaster

Where are we?

Mmmmh. Right here. Just Fine.

03 March 2008 | Total Paniert

Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl den Anschlussß nach Deutschland zu verlieren.
Das Video sollte bei dem hier in Toronto sehr beliebten Deutschkurs “German for Berliners” zum Pflichtprogramm werden.

Totally breaded. Watch the video and brush up your German.

Viel paniert
