A few years ago, the town of Dildo and the durrounding area tried to change the name of the town to New Harbour (which is is a neighbouring village with whom they wanted to immalgamate), but the older mmbers of the town didn't want to change the name just because modern society considers the word to be vulgar/sexualy oriented. When I moved here to Halifax in Grade 6 (at which I hadn't learned what a dildo was) I had to switch schools because I had told some of the kids that this was one of the places that I'd lived.
